Bakko Backboard

Bakko backboards give tennis players of all ages and ability levels the best practice partner available today – practice on your schedule and at your pace. Did you know that you can hit more balls on a backboard in 15 minutes than you would in an entire match? Bakko Backboards come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors to fit the needs of every player and facility – private courts, country clubs, camps, municipalities, schools, colleges, military bases, homeowner associations – wherever the game is played! Bakko has backboards all over the world!

Bakko’s creation, in the 70s, was the reaction of a creative and imaginative father tiring of the noise from his children pounding balls against the garage door. Over the decades, Bakko has continued to utilize innovative ideas to expand Bakko Backboards offering many options for the tennis enthusiast

General Information

Over twenty steps go into the construction of each backboard panel. Pre-fabricated panel concept allows virtually an unlimited size and/or placement capability for any facility or application. Each panel is 4 feet wide, 8 or 10 feet high and weighs 80 to 150 pounds. The backboards are ready for play when the pre-fabricated, completely finished, green fiberglass interlocking panels are affixed to your tennis court fence posts or wall. The Bakko assembly kit holds the panels in a tight, unitized, s i d e - b y - s i d e construction. Kits come in traditional flat and single curved styles. All kits are complete.

There are five different option on the Bakko Backborads: Economy Line, Slimline, Professional Line and Single Curved Line

Minimum adequate size is 8' high by 12' wide  backboard (3 panels). Attaches to two tennis court fence posts which,  on most tennis courts, are spaced 10' apart.

Typically 16' wide (4 panels) and 20' wide (5 panels) backboards require 3 tennis fence post  for attachment. A 16' backboard, if post are standard, expose more channel and hardware. It is not as aesthetically pleasing. Typically 3  or 5 panel models have minimal hardware and channel exposure.

If post  are 8' apart a 16' wide backboard can be elegant. 20' wide backboards  are very popular, especially in the 10' high series. Bakko feels a 12'  backboard is adequate if only 1 person hits.

If occasionally or  potentially 2 people may practice, a 16' backboard is recommended. If  2 people hit and elegance is important, a 20' backboard is a must.  Schools and tennis camps sometimes purchase 6, 7 and 8 panel kits,  several panels for a continuous wall.

Sizes:

10' x 12' , 10' x 16' , 10' x 20' , 10' x 24' , 10' x 28' and 10' x 32'

Rally Slope

Back-sloped Backboard: A 8-degree back-slope on a backboard provides a lofted ball return that will land further away from the board compared to the flatter, shorter rebound off a flat wall. Some players and coaches prefer the lofted return because it allows more time to prepare for the shot and places the player further from the practice wall. When considering a back-sloped model, remember that the bottom of the backboard will encroach 30" into the court compared with the 4" of intrusion of a flat backboard. Back-sloped models are often placed on the side of a court rather than behind the baseline where run back-space is more critical. Back-sloped backboards are available in the same sizes as Flat backboards.

Net Series

Net size is 7'x11' stretched inside strong green steel tubular frame with solar resistant heavy bungee cords. Net backboards do not have the lively rebound of a fiberglass backboard but are absolutely quiet, less expensive and can be assembled in an hour. One stands closer to a net backboard due to absorbed rebound and therefore doesn't require a sizable hitting area. Bakko's research shows a 7'x11' net size, stretched in a frame, perfectly fits most driveways or two fence post on a tennis court. Many tennis professionals will start beginners on a net backboard due to the snappy bounce off a fiberglass backboard. It can be too lively and frustrating to a small child. Even some experienced players prefer a net backboard. Excellent for repeated service practice from 39'. Net and elastic cords are replaceable. Popular for driveways, tennis courts or any open flat surface.
